Arising from the muddy shores of High Rock Lake in western North Carolina DJ Summitt has brought his unique style of animation and motion graphics to Southern California.  DJ Summitt grew up in Lexington, North Carolina, home of Bar-B-Que, bass fishing, and municipal police force corruption.  Circa 1984 DJ and his father were staging spectacular dramas starring He-Man and Skeletor.  It was grass roots stop motion filmmaking without the stop...or usually the motion.  Fast forward to 1996 when DJ was the original goth-punk poster boy in Lexington, a distinction that was cemented by being beat up enough times to be more punk than allowed by law (and way more punk than you).  In 1999 DJ began attending the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where he received his B.A. in Film Studies--Moving Image and Sound. During this time he began an internship with Paradox Films in Charlotte, NC, where he excelled at post-production techniques.  Hence why he is now an editor.  While at Paradox he began providing freelance production services.

After graduation in 2003 he moved to Baltimore, MD where he was hired to work as sound engineer on the feature film Chainsaw Sally. DJ has since worked for Redfield Arts as a director, production manager, and animator. In December of 2003 RW Communications hired him as their online editor where he edited industrials and commercials for many large companies based in Maryland including Aerotek, Digene, and Bachmann Industries.

The day after Super Bowl XXXIX in 2005 DJ loaded up his red Kia and traveled 2,600 miles to his new home of San Diego, CA.  There he opened his production company, Voodoo Penguin Films.  He has been pursuing his film and acting career since his move.  He worked through 2006 as a director/editor at Jukebox Sports Network in La Jolla, CA.  In the summer of 2007 he made his national network debut on CBS working on Big Brother, Power of 10, CSI: New York, and others.  He worked at the Television City location as a contract motion graphics producer.  He is currently working as a mobile television producer at MediaFLO USA.  He continues to work on his films and his side project The Troupe Chosette, a drama troupe formed with his best friend Zac Hayes.
